Easter Baskets Stampin' Up! Style

Here's a little something that I've been working. These are for my family in CA for Easter. I made a bunch of baskets like this for Valentine's Day for family & friends here at home and they went over really well. Hope the folks in CA like them. Naturally I'll have goodies in them when I give them, but chocolate melts in car so I'll have to wait on that part until I get to CA. ;)

The little chicks are from the Everybunny clear mount stamp set from Stampin' Up!. Just love that little chick. These are for the women. The purple one is especially for my niece who loves purple. 

Now the guys, they get this deranged Easter bunny. He's an old stamp I had. He just makes me laugh - a lot like the men in my family. LOL

Fun Friday!

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, I've just been busy getting ready to visit family in CA. Getting excited about my trip. I love the drive from OK to CA, the open range, the vistas and the mountains that I miss. Not to mention the desert, man I miss dry heat!

Today I've got a little card inspired by a card that I saw on Pinterest (yes, again with the Pinterest). I've changed it up a bit. I'm LOVING the color Pacific Point that Stampin' Up! offers. It's such a deep rich color. It's hard not to reach for Pacific Point or Melon Mambo every time I make something.

This is the best shot I could get with the lighting at night. It's the closest I could get to the true shade of the paper.  I used Pacific Point paper for the basic of the card and for the butterflies. The butterflies are cut from the  Beautiful Wings Stampin' Up! Embosslit die. The white gel pen was used to define the stitching on the Top Note die, which was cut in black. The "thank you" is from the "For All You Do" stamp set. Thank you was stamped in Versamark ink and then embossed in white. Each of the butterflies are accented with some tiny pearls.

First Class

I held my first class on Tuesday, March 27th. I think the ladies had fun, I know I did. We made 3 projects as an intro into stamping and punch art. What fun to see the projects come to life before our eyes!

First off is a 3 x 3 note card.

We played with a roller stamp to decorate our "bag-a-lope", and tried out the Big Shot by cutting a Top Note die shape for the topper for our bag.

They make a nice little set, don't you think?

Oh but we weren't done yet! With Easter so close we HAD for make some kind of bunny thing ... so we did! The ladies made little Easter Baskets with a bunny face on the front and a cotton tail on the back. Such FUN!

60 years together

60 years ago today, my parents said "I do". Now, 60 years later, they still say "I do" every day. So happy for them that they have shared 60 years together. I know it hasn't always been easy - what marriage is - but they stay committed to each other. OR as my mom says - maybe they just need to be "committed". LOL

Melon Mambo Monday

Happy Melon Mambo Monday! (another tongue twister LOL)

Spent some time with the family this weekend enjoying our favorite sport - HOCKEY! Went to see the Oklahoma City Barons win against the team from Grand Rapids Michigan. The Barons are a minor league, farm team and we're pretty proud that they lead the division.

Saturday was military appreciation night at the game. It was awesome to watch the military personal carry out a HUGE flag on to the ice and unfurl it. While a choir of children sang the national anthem, the military personal, both teams and the referees held the flag and shook it to make it wave. So proud of our country and our military folks ... and all those who support them back home!

Here's your taste of Melon Mambo :

Saw a card similar to this online somewhere and had to try it myself. I changed up most of the elements to things I had on hand. I'm lovin' this card and I have a thing for Melon Mambo right now. 

Card Recipe:

Melon mambo card stock - cut at 4 1/4 x 11

Whisper White card stock - cut at approx 1 x 4 and a piece 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 

Basis Black card stock - cut at 1 x 4

Fold melon mambo card stock at the 5 1/2 point to create a top fold.

Use a small center blossom stamp from the Mixed Bunch set, in Melon Mambo ink, stamp background.

Take the  3 1/2 x 3 1/2  piece of Whisper White, stamp blossom of choice from the Mixed Bunch set in Melon Mambo ink.

Using the Blossom punch, punch out the blossom and set aside for now.

Using the left-over scrap from punching out the blossom, stamp a center for the blossom from the Mixed Bunch set, in black. Punch this center out with the 3/4 inch circle punch.

Put the 1 x 4 piece of Whisper White in the embossing folder,  Adorning Accents set. Using the folder with hearts, run through the Big Shot.

Take the strip of Basic Black card stock and punch trim using the scalloped trim border punch.

Adhere the Basic Black scalloped trimmed border to the embossed Whisper White. Adhere this strip to the card front. Next take the center of the blossom that is stamped in black and using a dimensional adhere to the center of the flower. Using a dimensional, adhere assembled flower to the Whisper White embossed strip. In the center of the flower place a pearl.  Stamp sentiment of choice  on card.

Spring Break

Took a little time with my granddaughters Wednesday and Thursday since it is Spring Break for them. I hope I wore them out a bit for their parents - I know they wore me out! We had loads of fun and they made one of the projects I have in mind for my class this Tuesday (don't forget to RSVP!).

Here they are posing with their finished bunny baskets! Naturally they each wanted their basket to be unique so the faces are a bit different on each one. That's what makes this so fun - getting to see the creativity blossom right before my eyes.

Tempting Turquoise Tuesday

I was busy yesterday working on a swap I'm doing with my family. I live in Oklahoma and they're all in California. We don't get to be part of activities together because of the distance. So we're doing "Year in Review" scrapbook pages swap with each other so we can at least share photos of great moments. We decided to start with 2010 and make 2 page layouts. I've got my 2010 layouts done and I spent most of Monday trying to work through a mental block on part of my 2011 spread. I think I finally worked through it! I'll post those for fun in April after we swap them. Can't wait to see what everyone is doing.

Now for the "stamping portion of our program" ....

Made a card kinda quick in the middle of the night. I started freaking out cuz I wanted something to show you and I'd spent most of the day on other things. Well, I didn't want to disappoint so - I CASE'd (Copy And Share Everything) a card I saw on  Pinterest. I love that place and spend waaaaay too much time drooling over all the cool stuff pinned on there. I changed it up a bit to fit my style.

Tempting Turquoise paper (8 1/2 X 11, cut in half at the 5 1/2 mark) is the base for the standard sized card with the fold at the top. The next layer is Basic Black, cut at 5 1/4  X 4 and use the ticket corner punch on the corners. Taking the other half of the Tempting Turquoise paper, stamp images from the For All You Do stamp set in Basic Black ink. Using the 1 3/8 square punch, punch out the images. Stamp the 5 petal flower and the 4 petal flower and cut out. Adhere the smaller flower on top of the larger flower. Using a scrap of Whisper White, punch a circle for the center of the large 2 layer flowers and adhere. Adhere the 2 layer flower on top of the dotted square. Arrange the squares as you like them and then adhered to a piece of Whisper White that is roughly 3 x 4 1/2.  The Whisper White layer is then adhered to the card base.
